What do we need?

In light of recent growth, TSM is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to become an important member of our Strategic Planning Group.   

 

What will you do?

As a TrueSense Business Intelligence (BI) Developer you will create and manage BI and analytic solutions that transform data into insights, and then convey those findings in a compelling and visually appealing way.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a background in data and business analysis, with a passion for seeking out and showcasing data truths. The candidate should be analytical, but also an excellent communicator with an ability to convey complex concepts in terms that a broader audience can latch onto and understand. Candidates possessing a keen business acumen and a highly developed problem-solving aptitude will excel in this role.

Simply put, the candidate for this role must be able to enhance our business intelligence systems to help us make better decisions as an agency.

More specifically, the candidate chosen for this role...

  • Is one of two primary points of contact for analytics and data visualization in the agency.
  • Ensures solutions are developed with a “data-first” mind-set in collaboration with the strategic planning group.
  • Develops and implements interactive analytic reports and dashboards.
  • Communicates with internal agency business units to Identify data intelligence needs, understand data assets, and solve for an ever-changing list of mission critical questions.
  • Develops and generates BI, data visualization and analytic tools in support of a wide variety of agency initiatives (e.g., Donor Health Index™ and associated proprietary tool sets).
  • Maintains agency data solutions including debugging, monitoring and troubleshooting existing BI products.
  • Configures, deploys, and maintains database server objects in our data warehouse.
  • Provides tabular datasets and pivot tables to enable user guided ad hoc discovery.
  • Trains agency staff on data best practices and how to properly use both routine and ad hoc tools produced by the BI team.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 Years of Experience within a similar role in analytics, data visualization, and/or BI solution development.
  • Advanced Proficiency writing relational and multidimensional database queries in SQL.
  • Experience with database design, SQL, data warehousing and knowledge of Microsoft BI technology (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS).
  • Familiarity with Python, SAS, R, SPSS, also a plus.
  • Deep understanding of data analysis and visualization best practice with a familiarity with a leading dataviz tool (Tableau, Looker, Qlikview, Spotfire, etc).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, IT, or other data-intensive curriculum.
